Know more about what Aye plans to do for blueREP if elected CM :)

for everyone
I told my co-candidate Jio Javier that I deem it necessary that we come out with a statement addressing this whole campaign frenzy. Personally, I am most worried that the alumni might think that blueREP has become a divided organization composed of overly-competitive members that fight each other through blogs, email, and text blasts.

Looking at it in another perspective, I strongly believe that it is very healthy that the members are very passionate about the CM elections. It is good that they are presented with choices. It is good that they are challenged to think and discern about blueREP's future. It is good that the members care.

We want our alumni to be proud of what blueREP has become. So just to set the record straight, blueREP is not divided. We are not fighting. Jio and I are friends. The members may be very passionate and have their own opinions on who to vote for come election day, but it does not mean that the organization we all love is divided.

So to the alumni, thank you for your concern. We assure you that in the end, we are all still friends. blueREP will remain a family.

To the members, I applaud your passion towards the CM elections. I applaud your courage to voice out your opinions. See you on Wednesday and let us all make the right choice. Let YOUR voice be heard!

All the best,
Aye :)

a. Established Online Bulletin
If elected Cm, I would like to establish an online bulletin that will be organized and updated regularly. News updates will be sent online by the Sec-Gen department to blueREP groups, such as blueREP home, blueREP members, and blueREP news.

This is to prevent flooding of news in the groups and for a more organized update. Members will also be given the chance to send in news about themselves (Oli del Rosario receives Miss Psych '09 award! or Madel Ching bags Tracy Turnblad's role!)

This way, we will be able to keep members and alumni in-the-know about things that are happening in blueREP.

b. An established Member Feedback System
Aside from speaking to HR or anyone in the core, I would like to give the members the chance to be heard out by establishing a feedback system. A couple of weeks before each Evaluation Seminar, mail boxes will be stationed in the org room where members can send letter voicing out their opinions, suggestions, complaints, etc. The core then will review and discuss the letters. If the core deems it necessary to discuss to the members a certain concern, we will address it through a General Assembly.

This effort acknowledges the fact that not a lot of members have the time or are able to attend EvSems. This way, we will still be able to hear you out by reaching out to you. You are the citizens of blueREP, the main people who matter. You opinions are highly valued.

c. Equal opportunity for production participation

The current system for production participation (as Tech heads, SM's, Assistants, etc.) is hand-pick system. During core meetings, we discuss members who are, in our opinion, capable  of holding such responsibilities. Simply put, we throw out names that pop in our heads.

I believe that we should be able to give members equal opportunity. If elected, I would allow for a sign-up system before the school year ends. We will have a sign-up sheet that looks for members who are interested to be next year's Head SM's, Technical Directors, Assistant Directors, Production Managers, etc. Then, the core, spearheaded by the Artistic Director, HR VP will deliberate the list to look for people who will fill in the slots for next school year's productions.

d. Suggest-A-Project project
We would love to hear what productions and projects you'd like blueREP to do! Like the member feedback system, you will be allowed to email/drop your project suggestions. The projects can be anything at all! (Newspaper Drive, Free Concert, Garage Sale, etc.) If your project is chosen, you will be given the opportunity to be the project manager for that specific project.

Better allocation of income from projects

blueREP has several fundraising projects. Caroling during Mako's time for example, was able to garner more than P50,000.00.

I believe that we will be able to put the money generated from special projects to better use if we start a fund that has an end-goal in mind. We must start a fund that will aim to purchase materials and instruments that blueREP never had. We must use the money to purchase keyboard, amplifiers, etc. so that during productions, we will not have to scout around for people who will be able to lend us theirs.

Once we start this project, future projects and productions will definitely be less stressful and production schedules will proceed as planned.

a. Exposure and immersion in the arts
Members should grow artistically even outside blueREP. If elected, I would like the members to be regularly informed and updated about auditions, shows, previews, etc in and outside Ateneo.

Artistic growth for the members means growth for the organization.

b. Workshops that cater to more members
Basic singing and acting workshops will be held to especially cater to members who have no previous experience on stage. The music workshop for example, will have the same set-up as a production's music rehearsals. This is to teach members the basics of singing for theater.

We must recognize the act that there are several members who joined to be in production, and not necessarily as performers. And we must also be able to give them the opportunity to learn, in case they want to experience performing and being part of a show.

c. Holistic formation through better-structured committees

Involvement and retention of committee-members have always been a problem. With this thrust, I would like the members to join only one committee per production, and have the choice to transfer to other committees per production. This way, we are able to help the members learn about the different facets of the organization, besides performing and production work. And above all, members grow holistically.

d. Sharing the craft to immediate community through a better-structured Marketing Department

Ushered in by the new core structure, blueREP now has a more organized Marketing Department. Through this, we will aim to reach out to the Ateneo community.

We have been enjoying several recognitions in the musical theatre industry outside Ateneo, and I believe that we should also be able to share our passion for the craft to our immediate community. This way, blueREP may enjoy a wider Ateneo audience for our future projects and productions.
